In Memoriam

Alice Anne Molasky Arman - January 10, 1935 to August 18, 2019

Alice Anne Molasky Arman built a distinguished career in Nevada public service and insurance regulation. She earned a master's degree in English, summa cum laude, from the University of Dayton before relocating to Nevada. Pursuing further opportunity, she attended the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree, and was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1992. She had earlier worked her way up through the Nevada Division of Insurance - from administrative secretary to chief insurance examiner - and, upon completing law school, returned to Carson City to serve the division as an attorney.

In 1995 she was appointed to serve as the State of Nevada Insurance Commissioner, a role she held for 13 years, the longest tenure in the state's history. During her service she helped establish a physician's liability insurance company, secured policy-holder life insurance payments for Holocaust beneficiaries, and oversaw the transition of Nevada's workers' compensation system from a state operation to private insurance. She earned numerous awards within the insurance industry over the course of her regulatory career.

Colleagues and family remembered her as a beautiful, giving, intelligent, loving and tenacious woman who deeply cared about those around her. Born in Ohio in 1935, she died at her home in Carson City, Nevada, in 2019, survived by her husband, Phillip T. Arman, and her sons John C. Gould, Anthony R. Gould, and David H. Gould.
