Mark Steven Blackman - 1960-11-16 to 2023-03-26
Mark Steven Blackman was an attorney whose practice centered on real estate litigation and bankruptcy matters in both California and Nevada. A graduate of UCLA and Loyola Law School, he built a career representing lenders and servicers in the manufactured home industry, and since 1990 he represented nearly all of the manufactured home lenders and servicers in California.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Blackman relocated to the Las Vegas area later in his career and became an active and valued member of the Clark County Bar Association. He served on the CCBA Board of Directors and was known as a fixture at bar events and an exemplar of collegiality - a colleague remembered as one of the first to volunteer when the call for help went out. He was a tireless champion of the CCBA's Blanket the Homeless program, which he helped carry from concept to delivery on the streets of Clark County.
Blackman's commitment to service extended back to his years in California, where he served as president of the San Fernando Bar Association in 2000 and coordinated community programs including Blanket the Homeless, Pass the Turkey, and Ask A Lawyer. In 2007 he was nominated for the Fernando Award for Community Service. He passed away on March 26, 2023, at the age of 62, remembered by colleagues as a dedicated attorney and a generous, collegial presence in the legal community.
