Arthur W. Tuverson - January 2, 1946 to September 3, 2020
Arthur W. Tuverson was born in Pasadena, California, on January 2, 1946, and was raised in Arcadia, where he graduated from Arcadia High School in 1963. He attended Citrus Junior College before earning his bachelor's degree at the University of Southern California, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He continued at USC for his legal education, graduating from law school in 1970.
Tuverson built a distinguished career as a medical malpractice defense lawyer. He tried numerous cases as a young attorney and became a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 1978. In 1980 he opened the law firm of Tuverson & Hillyard with his brother-in-law Steve Hillyard, beginning with just the two of them and growing the practice to more than 150 employees by the early 1990s. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on October 4, 1993, as bar number 5156.
Widely respected in his field, Tuverson took more than 150 cases to jury trial over the course of his career, prevailing in roughly 95 percent of them. A devoted alumnus, he remained an active supporter of USC and its athletics programs, particularly football. He passed away on September 3, 2020, at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a more than ten-year battle with cancer.
