In Memoriam

Belinda Belle Quilici - 1937-09-21 to 2026-02-12

Belinda Belle Coppin Quilici was born September 21, 1937, in Reno, Nevada, to Clayton A. and Emma B. Coppin, and grew up in the mining-camp town of Tungsten and in Lovelock. She graduated from Pershing County High School in Lovelock and from the University of Nevada in Reno, and began her professional life as an elementary school teacher.

In the 1980s, Belinda stepped away from teaching to work for District Court Judge Lewellyn Young. With his encouragement, she returned to school and earned her law degree from the Nevada School of Law at Old College in Reno - a mid-career change that reflected her lifelong passion for learning. She went on to serve as District Attorney of Pershing County from 1993 to 2002, an elected office she pursued and held through considerable personal adversity.

Beyond her legal career, Belinda served on the Nevada Humanities Board of Directors and was instrumental in securing a Nevada State Historic Grant to renovate the Pershing County Courthouse Round Room and Courtroom. She retired to Idaho in 2004. Remembered for her wit, intelligence, and compassion, Belinda Belle Quilici died February 12, 2026, in Boise, Idaho.
