Carl E. Lovell Jr. - April 12, 1945 to September 21, 2006

Carl E. Lovell Jr. was born on April 12, 1945, in Riverside, California, the son of U.S. Air Force Colonel Carl Lovell Sr. As the son of a career military officer, he spent much of his youth traveling around the world before completing his undergraduate studies and entering the practice of law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1969, followed by the District of Columbia bar in 1971 and the Supreme Court of the United States in 1973.

Mr. Lovell distinguished himself early in his career, serving at age 28 as the youngest city attorney for both North Las Vegas and Las Vegas. It was in that role that he first argued before the U.S. Supreme Court. After choosing not to seek re-election, he moved into the private sector, serving as in-house counsel and secretary-treasurer for Circus Circus Resorts, Inc. for approximately eight years.

Following his tenure at Circus Circus, Mr. Lovell established a successful private practice, continuing to represent clients in the gaming industry as well as the private sector. He was active in civic and charitable life, serving as an officer and director for several organizations, including the Southern Nevada Better Business Bureau, the Nevada Kidney Foundation, and the Nevada Donor Network. He died on September 21, 2006, at the age of 61.
