Charles Allan "Chuck" Paine

Charles Allan "Chuck" Paine, of Las Vegas, built a career in the law that spanned the courtrooms of Clark County. The son of Howard Allan and Crystal Paine, he moved to Las Vegas in 1951 when his father transferred to the new TiMet plant in Henderson, and he attended Bishop Gorman High School. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and traveled the world before returning home to pursue his education.

After completing his active duty tour with the Navy, Chuck attended UNLV and went on to earn his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. Following his admission to the bar, he served with the Clark County District Attorney's Office, where he worked until his retirement and earned the lasting respect of the colleagues who knew him.

Even in retirement, Chuck remained devoted to the courts, taking up a part-time role as a judge pro-tem - work that let him continue serving the community that had shaped his life. Known for his honesty, integrity, and generosity, he was remembered by those he worked alongside as one of the profession's genuinely good people. He passed away on September 17, 2013, at the age of 69.
