Charles Bordoe "Chach" Evans Jr. - 1926-09-06 to 2013-03-17

Charles Bordoe "Chach" Evans Jr. was an Elko County native and third-generation Nevadan, born September 6, 1926, to Nelle and Charles B. Evans. Raised at the family ranch in North Fork, he graduated from Elko High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps during his senior year. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Stanford University, graduating in 1949, and earned his JD at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco in 1952.

He returned to Elko and began a law practice that spanned 30 years. Over his career he was elected District Attorney for Eureka County for two terms and served as City Attorney for Carlin. He also served as President of the Elko County Bar Association, reflecting his standing among his fellow members of the Nevada bar.

Beyond the law, Chach was deeply engaged in civic life in Elko. He served as President of the Elko Chamber of Commerce and of the Rotary Club, chaired the Elko County March of Dimes and the Silver State Stampede fund drive, and directed the local Red Cross chapter. He was an organizer and founder of the Great Basin Bank of Nevada, serving as Chairman of the Board from 1992 to 1999, and was a member of the Nevada State Racing Commission. In 1956 he was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year by the Elko Chamber of Commerce.
