Charles William Johnson - 1931-06-04 to 2011-07-19

Charles William Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brigham Young University in 1955 and a Juris Doctor from the George Washington University National Law Center in 1963. That same year he began practicing law in Las Vegas, and he was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada, the District of Columbia bar, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada in 1963. He went on to be admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1964 and to the U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Tax Court in 1971.

Mr. Johnson founded Johnson & Johnson Law Offices and built a practice concentrated in wills, trusts, and estates, where he was recognized for pioneering the Living Trust. He was named a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and served as its State Chairman from 1990 to 1995.

Throughout his career he took on leadership roles within the Nevada legal community, serving as Chairman of the Nevada Law Foundation from 1991 to 1995, Chairman of the State Bar of Nevada Taxation Section from 1985 to 1986, Co-Chairman of the Probate and Trust Sections from 1989 to 1994, and President of the Southern Nevada Estate Planning Council from 1972 to 1973.
