In Memoriam

Christine N. Moore - 1973-04-04 to 2021-04-09

Christine (Fisher) Moore was born April 4, 1973, in Fairfield, California, and spent much of her childhood in Bozeman, Montana, before completing her final three years of high school in Las Vegas, where she graduated from Bonanza High School in 1991. She attended the University of Southern California on a speech and debate scholarship and earned a degree in broadcast journalism in 1995. Drawn to the Reno/Tahoe area, she worked for Patagonia and cultivated the environmental ethic that shaped much of her outlook before deciding in 1999 to pursue the law.

Christine attended Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, graduating in 2002, and was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on April 24, 2003. She served as a judicial law clerk to Justice Miriam Shearing, the first woman to sit on the Nevada Supreme Court. After her clerkship, she became a public defender in Reno, work she took on out of a conviction that justice should be available to all, not only to those who could afford it.

Christine later clerked for Justice Robert 'Skip' Durham of the Oregon Supreme Court and built a successful career in Portland as a plaintiff's-side civil litigator and appellate practitioner. Known for her intelligence, perseverance, and grace, she was regarded as an asset to her clients and colleagues, took on leadership positions, mentored new lawyers and law students, and offered counsel to other female attorneys navigating the balance of work and family. She died April 9, 2021, in Portland, Oregon, shortly after her 48th birthday.
