C. Dan Bowman - 1947-08-25 to 2014-03-21

C. Dan Bowman was born August 25, 1947, in Ogden, Utah, and moved with his family to Las Vegas in January 1963. He graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a door gunner in the 1st Cavalry Air Assault Helicopter division, where he was decorated with five medals and two United States Commendations for the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.

After his military service, Dan attended UNLV - then Nevada Southern University - for four years, working his way through school by loading baggage at the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Las Vegas. He went on to earn his law degree from Pepperdine University Law School in California, painting houses and apartments to support himself through his four years of study. He graduated with the Pepperdine Law class of 1976.

In 1977, Dan began his career with the Clark County District Attorney's Office in Las Vegas. He served as a Chief Deputy District Attorney and prosecutor as well as a Team Chief Leader, working closely with victims, judges, attorneys, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Henderson and North Las Vegas police departments, the Clark County Coroner's Office, and outlying counties across Nevada when legal help was required. Remembered by colleagues for his common sense, honesty, and integrity, he retired after 30 years of service. He died March 21, 2014.
