Leslie M. Fry

Leslie McGee Fry devoted more than four decades to the practice of law in Nevada. Born in Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri, he graduated as valedictorian of Louisiana High School and went on to attend the University of Missouri beginning in 1930. He earned his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Louisville in Kentucky in 1939, a degree later updated to a Juris Doctor in 1969. He began his legal career in Hartford, Kentucky, where he practiced from 1939 to 1941 in partnership with Walter Continna.

Admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1946, Mr. Fry built his professional life in Reno, where he practiced with George Lohse in the firm of Lohse & Fry. He established his own independent firm in 1963 and, in 1965, formed a partnership with his son, Leslie Mack Fry. Over the course of his career he was authorized to practice before the United States Federal District Court and the United States Supreme Court. He formally retired on January 1, 1990, though he continued to serve as a consultant.

Alongside his legal career, Mr. Fry gave many years of service to the military. Commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Army Field Artillery in 1934, he was recalled to active duty in 1941 and served in the Pacific theater during World War II, commanding the 140th Field Artillery in the Philippines. In April 1967 he was commissioned a Brigadier General in the Nevada National Guard.
