In Memoriam

Daniel M. Bunin

Daniel M. Bunin was a longtime Las Vegas criminal defense attorney who had been licensed to practice law in Nevada since 1994. He grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, before moving to Las Vegas as a teenager, attended Valley High School, and completed his undergraduate studies at UNLV. He earned his law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in California.

Over a career devoted to criminal defense, Bunin earned a reputation as a formidable courtroom advocate. More than a decade before his death, he and fellow attorney Dayvid Figler raised concerns about how the Clark County district attorney's office had compensated witnesses, discovering that relevant records had reportedly been destroyed even though copies still existed. Prosecutors ultimately ended the practice - a lasting mark of his work on behalf of the accused.

Colleagues and family remembered his dedication to the profession he loved. His wife, Violet Radosta, herself a deputy public defender, described him as the most talented attorney she had ever seen in court and said he never wanted to do anything other than serve as a criminal defense attorney. He died in August 2021 at the age of 55.
