David R. Grundy - 1949 to 2020-02-25
David R. Grundy was a native Nevadan, born in Reno in 1949. He was a graduate of Reno High School and the University of Nevada, Reno, and after serving in the Navy - including two years in the South China Sea - he attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, obtaining his Juris Doctor degree in 1977. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada that same year and returned to Reno in the late 1970s to build his career.
Dave became an accomplished trial lawyer and was a founder and partner of Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg, where he practiced primarily in the areas of professional liability and other complex litigation, as well as the representation of businesses in commercial matters. He conducted numerous trials in state and federal court and earned recognition as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Beyond his practice, Dave contributed extensively to the legal profession. He served on Nevada's Judicial Selection Commission for over a decade and was selected as an editorial adviser for the Handbook for Judicial Nominating Commissioners. He was a founding member of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern Nevada, served as president of the Bruce R. Thompson Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and contributed to the Nevada Civil Practice Manual. A dedicated supporter of Nevada's high school mock trial program and University of Nevada athletics, he passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2020.
