David Warner Hagen - 1931-10-02 to 2022-09-28

David Warner Hagen was born on October 2, 1931, in Camden, Arkansas. He served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1952, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1956, and received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1959. After beginning his legal career in private practice in Berkeley and Loyalton, California, he settled in Reno, Nevada, where he practiced law from 1963 until 1993.

In 1993, President Bill Clinton nominated Hagen to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 20, 1993, and received his commission on November 22, 1993. He served as a district judge until assuming senior status in 2003, and retired from the bench on March 31, 2005.

Following his years on the federal bench, Judge Hagen continued to serve the legal community as a neutral arbitrator, mediator, and court-appointed special master, handling complex civil matters including intellectual property disputes, class actions, mining claims, and employment cases. He died on September 28, 2022, in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 90, remembered for a career of distinguished service to the Nevada bar and bench.
