Don W. Ashworth - 1937-09-18 to 2017-11-20

Don W. Ashworth was born September 18, 1937, in Pioche, Nevada, and grew up in Las Vegas, where he attended Las Vegas High School and served as student body president. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University and received his juris doctorate from the University of Utah, where he again served as student body president.

For more than 25 years, Ashworth practiced law in southern Nevada, concentrating in the areas of taxation and estate planning. He later served as Clark County Probate Commissioner. His professional leadership extended beyond his practice: he was the organizer and a president of the Southern Nevada Estate Planning Council and a past president of the Las Vegas Rotary Club.

Ashworth also devoted himself to public service and his community, serving as a Nevada State Senator from 1978 to 1982. A lifelong scouter, he served for more than 30 years on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America Boulder Dam Area Council and received the Silver Beaver Award for his distinguished service. He died November 20, 2017.
