Douglas Keith Fermoile - 1956-04-20 to 2025-02-18
Douglas Keith Fermoile was born April 20, 1956, in Niagara Falls, New York, and grew up in the Village of Lewiston, New York, and in Reno, Nevada. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Nevada, Reno, and his law degree at Willamette University School of Law in Oregon. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on September 29, 1981.
Over a long and varied legal career in Reno, Doug served at different times as a criminal defense lawyer, a special prosecutor, and a civil court judge. His work spanned both sides of the courtroom and the bench, reflecting a broad engagement with the practice of law in northern Nevada.
Beyond his legal work, Doug was also an educator, teaching English, Political Science, and Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Reno, and he coached youth baseball in the community. He passed away peacefully at his home in Reno on February 18, 2025.
