In Memoriam
Edgar Ardent Hollingsworth - October 15, 1924 to February 11, 2001
A native Nevadan, Edgar Ardent Hollingsworth was born October 15, 1924, in Lovelock, Pershing County, into a family long rooted in the state's mining country. He was a son of Edgar Arden Hollingsworth and Ruth Lillian Davis, and he grew up among accomplished siblings - his sister Leola went on to serve for many years as Secretary of the Nevada State Senate and to receive the Distinguished Nevadan Award. Like his brother and sister, Edgar was an accomplished musician.
Hollingsworth attended law school and became a highly acclaimed attorney in the field of mining law, a specialty closely bound to Nevada's history and economy. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on December 31, 1965, and carried bar number 2257 throughout his career.
He was married to Marilyn A. Thomsen. A lifelong Nevadan, Edgar Ardent Hollingsworth died February 11, 2001, in Sparks, Washoe County.
