Gary Asher Sheerin

Gary Asher Sheerin was born in Elko, Nevada, on October 7, 1938. After graduating from Loyola University and Hastings College of Law, he and his wife JoAnn moved to Carson City in 1964, where he built his career as an attorney. Over the course of more than 55 years, he practiced property law, becoming a fixture of the Carson City legal community.

Alongside his legal practice, he and JoAnn established a successful property development partnership with Jack and Arlene Oakes that spanned more than 30 years. Gary had a great passion for people and politics, and he devoted himself to public service in many forms, serving as a Nevada State Senator and Assemblyman.

He gave generously of his time to civic institutions, serving as Chairman of the Western Nevada College Foundation, Chairman of the Committee to build the Carson City Courthouse, and as a member of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board. Remembered as a man of integrity and true generosity, Gary Asher Sheerin passed away on July 16, 2018.
