George LaVern Albright

George LaVern "Vern" Albright was a prominent Las Vegas attorney whose legal career spanned more than five decades. Born May 30, 1929, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he was raised in Las Vegas and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1947, where his classmates chose him to deliver the graduation speech. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he served for four and one-half years (1954 - 1959) as an officer and pilot in the U.S. Air Force.

Vern worked his way through George Washington University Law School by taking graveyard shifts guarding the Capitol building for the Capitol Police. He served on the Editorial Board of the Law Review and graduated with honors in 1961. He became an AV-rated attorney and remained a member of the bar for over 50 years, building a long and respected career in the Las Vegas legal community.

Beyond his practice, Vern was active in civic life, serving in 1973 as President of the Las Vegas Kiwanis Club, which under his leadership established and began sponsoring the Varsity Quiz program for Clark County School District high school students. He was remembered as a dynamic speaker and leader whose influence was felt across his family, his profession, and his community. He passed away on July 7, 2017, at the age of 88.
