Gordon Ian Fink

Gordon Ian "Gordy" Fink served as a senior deputy attorney general for the State of Nevada, where he represented the Nevada Equal Rights Commission, the Nevada Commission on Women, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission. In the early 1990s he represented the Equal Rights Commission and the Commission on Women as a deputy attorney general, leaving briefly to run for the Nevada Assembly in 1992. In July 1997 he served as legal counsel for the Athletic Commission in the widely watched hearing in which Mike Tyson's license was revoked following his title fight against Evander Holyfield at the MGM Grand.

Born July 13, 1953, in Detroit, Fink came to Las Vegas with his family at the age of 10. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1975 and a law degree from California Western in 1978. Beginning in 1984 he taught as a political science instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he taught constitutional law, and he was a devoted supporter of UNLV athletics - co-hosting the UNLV Rebel Talk show during the 1990 season in which the Runnin' Rebels won the NCAA championship.

Remembered by friends and colleagues as a terrific lawyer, a man consumed by sports, and a great Nevada citizen, Fink died at his Las Vegas home on May 10, 1998, at the age of 44. He was survived by his parents, Dr. Joseph Fink and Charlotte Fink, both of Las Vegas.
