Harry L. Gastley

Harry L. Gastley, an attorney whose legal career spanned private practice and federal public service, passed away on April 21, 2024, in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 80. Born on June 2, 1943, in Frederick, Maryland, he earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1966 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1969. He later completed a Master of Laws in Labor Law at Georgetown University.

Harry practiced law with firms in Virginia and California before joining the United States Department of Justice, and he was admitted to the bars of Maryland, Nevada, and California. Over a distinguished federal career spanning 33 years, he served the Department of Justice in several capacities, including as an Immigration Judge beginning in 1998.

Harry retired from the Department of Justice in May 2011. He was the beloved husband of Talova Davis, and the son of the late Ralph L. Gastley and Mary Shankle Gastley.
