Irwin Kishner

Irwin Kishner was an attorney, developer, philanthropist and community leader in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born June 10, 1933, in Brighton Beach, New York, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from the University of Miami. He moved to Las Vegas in 1960 to work alongside his uncle, Herman Kishner, and the two developed several notable properties in the city, including the Somerset House Motel and Apartments, Nevada Square, The Monaco and Maryland Square.

Mr. Kishner served as president of Estwin Corporation and was known for his non-gaming hotel strategy, exemplified by the 104-room Somerset House. He was a founding director of the Nevada Hotel & Motel Association - a distinction of which he was especially proud - and joined the Las Vegas Rotary Club in 1968. Over the course of his career he was honored by numerous organizations with recognitions such as 'Man of the Year', 'Lifetime Service Awards' and 'Hotelier of the Year'.

Irwin Kishner passed away at age 84 on September 4, 2017. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Kishner; his daughter, Judge Joanna Kishner, and her husband, David Alexander; his grandchildren, Rachael, Risa, Josh and Jillian; and his longtime significant other, Jeanne Greenawalt.
