Jack Streeter

Jack Streeter was a native Nevadan and longtime Reno resident who built a distinguished career in the law. A graduate of Sparks High School, where he was voted most likely to succeed, he attended the University of Nevada, Reno, and served during World War II as an officer in the First Infantry Division. He became the most decorated Nevadan of that war, taking part in the D-Day invasion, the assault across the Rhine River, and the Battle of the Bulge, earning four Silver Stars, two Bronze Stars, four Purple Hearts, and the Legion of Merit. The newest tower at the VA Hospital in Reno bears his name in honor of his service.

After the war, Jack attended Hastings Law School and returned to Reno to practice, where he served as Washoe County District Attorney from 1951 to 1954. In private practice he handled many prominent cases and clients, including representing Harold's Club during its sale to Howard Hughes. He remained active in the profession throughout his life.

Jack helped form the Nevada District Attorney's Association and served as President of the World Association of Lawyers. He was also Chairman of the USS Nevada Commissioning Committee and a member of the Knights of Malta. A lifelong believer in vigorous physical exercise, he remained active well into his later years. He is remembered as a man of honor and a devoted Nevadan.
