Jacob L. Hafter - 1976-02-25 to 2018-04-17

Jacob Louis "Jay" Hafter was born February 25, 1976, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and built a career defined by service and advocacy. Before entering the law, he worked as a paramedic and EMT during high school and throughout college, and he earned a master's degree in health science from Cleveland State University. He went on to become an attorney admitted to practice in Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

In Las Vegas, Mr. Hafter founded and led the Law Offices of Jacob Hafter & Associates, and he also served as in-house counsel and corporate director of administration for Monarch Casino & Resort, Inc. Colleagues remembered him as a talented attorney who took his causes seriously and, as one put it, would let nothing stop him when he felt there was an injustice. He was known as an advocate who fought for the constitutional rights of all people.

Beyond his practice, Mr. Hafter was active in civic and community life. In 2010, he ran as a Republican candidate for Nevada Attorney General. He was also recognized for his charitable giving, supporting various Jewish organizations and synagogues in the Las Vegas community. Jacob L. Hafter died on April 17, 2018, at the age of 42.
