James Patrick Stefflre - April 2, 1946 to December 12, 2005
James Patrick Stefflre, known to many as "Diamond Jim," was born on April 2, 1946, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and died unexpectedly on December 12, 2005. He built his legal career in Nevada after attending the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California.
As an attorney, Jim practiced with the firm of McDonald Carano Wilson LLP, one of Nevada's established law firms, before retiring from the practice of law in 1998. Colleagues and friends remembered him for the sense of humor, kindness, and generosity that earned him his lasting nickname.
Beyond the bar, Jim served for 32 years with the Nevada Air National Guard. He enlisted in 1968 and earned his wings in 1972 at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, rising to the rank of Colonel over the course of his long service. He was remembered for a life of adventure and travel through which he touched many lives.
