Jerome P. Duckett

Jerome "Jerry" P. Duckett was born in Angels Camp, California, on February 1, 1941. He served in the military and was stationed in South Korea, an assignment he used as an opportunity to travel to other parts of Asia. He later built a lengthy career in the casino industry, working as a dealer, pit boss, and keno manager, spending most of those years at Harrah's Reno.

After leaving the casino industry, Mr. Duckett pursued higher education at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned degrees in education. He then applied to the University of San Diego Law School, was accepted on a full-ride scholarship, and earned his Juris Doctor. He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on September 26, 1988, embarking on a legal career later in life.

Mr. Duckett went on to serve in the Sparks City Attorney's Office, from which he retired in 2005. He died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, following a courageous battle with COVID-19. He is remembered for a life of reinvention and service across several distinct careers.
