John E. Gabrielli

John E. Gabrielli was born on April 24, 1921, in Reno, Nevada, the son of immigrant parents Dominic and Josephine Gabrielli. He was raised and schooled in Reno, graduating from Reno High School in 1939 and earning his degree from the University of Nevada in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served with the Third Infantry Division in the Italian and European campaigns of World War II, including the Anzio Beachhead and the invasions of Southern France and Central Europe, before his honorable discharge in 1945.

After the war, Mr. Gabrielli attended Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco and was admitted to the Nevada State Bar in 1949. He began his legal career in Reno in practice with Gordon W. Rice, later becoming part of the firm McCarran, Rice, Wedge and Blakey. He served as City Attorney of Sparks from 1955 to 1957 and joined the Washoe County District Attorney's Office in 1959.

In 1963, Mr. Gabrielli was elected a judge of the Second Judicial District Court, taking the bench on January 7 of that year. He served the court with distinction for 21 years before retiring on January 7, 1984. He passed away on January 27, 1988, leaving a legacy of dedicated public service to the Nevada bar and bench.
