John Edward Lewis

John Edward Lewis was born October 26, 1947, in Whittier, California, to Irene Downing Lewis and Mose Lewis. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Kansas, and received his J.D. from Hastings College of Law in San Francisco in 1974. That same year he relocated to Reno, Nevada, where he would build his legal career.

Before establishing himself as a sole practitioner in 1978, John was employed by the firms of Kafoury, Armstrong & Turner and Laxalt, Berry & Allison. He was a member of the Thurston Society, the American Institute of CPAs, and the American Bar Association. Throughout his years in practice, John loved the law and was deeply devoted to the clients he served, a commitment reflected in the compassion and generosity for which he was widely known.

Beyond his profession, John appreciated music and played the piano, enjoyed golf, and was an avid reader of science fiction. He found his greatest happiness in nature, especially near the ocean. John Edward Lewis passed away January 27, 2011, at the age of 63.
