Joseph Lee Benson

Joseph Lee Benson was a longtime Las Vegas attorney whose path to the law began in the military. After attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha on a football scholarship while enrolled in ROTC and graduating with a degree in English, he served his country in Vietnam and at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Air Force sponsored his legal education at California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, and he returned to Nellis to complete his service as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer, retiring as a Major after 20 years.

Following his military career, Benson established a personal injury law practice in Las Vegas, where he built a respected reputation over the course of many years. In 2011, at the height of his legal career, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nevada Justice Association - a recognition of his lasting contributions to the practice of law in Nevada.

Born February 7, 1943, Joseph Lee Benson passed away July 15, 2023, at the age of 80. His son, Joseph Lee Benson II, Esq., continues the family's presence in the Las Vegas legal community.
