Justin Potter Karczag - 1974-07-27 to 2020-09-13
Justin Potter Karczag was a litigator admitted to practice in California, Nevada, and Hawaii, and before roughly two dozen state and federal courts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Summa Cum Laude with College Honors, from UCLA, and a Juris Doctorate from the UC Berkeley School of Law, where he received the Honorable Advocate Award and served as Director of the First Year Moot Court program. He also externed for the Honorable Ruggero Aldisert of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Much of Justin's career centered on representing individuals in high-stakes disputes, frequently against large companies with far greater resources. He developed his litigation practice as a partner at Foley Bezek Behle & Curtis, LLP. In 2017 he founded his own firm, Karczag & Associates PC, in downtown Los Angeles, and in 2018 he joined Encore Law Group, leading its Litigation Department.
Among his most notable achievements, in 2014 he co-tried a case he brought on behalf of a borrower against East West Bank in a five-week jury trial, resulting in a jury award of $39,000,000 in damages against the bank, more than half of it in punitive damages. He passed away on September 13, 2020, at the age of 46.
