In Memoriam
Kathryn Linn Butler - 1988-12-06 to 2022-09-09
Kathryn Linn Butler - known to family and friends as Katie or Kate - was born December 6, 1988, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Steve and Trudy Butler, and passed away on September 9, 2022, at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. She grew up moving across the country - Utah, Arizona, and New Jersey - and graduated from Skyline High School in Salt Lake City in 2007. She went on to the University of Utah, following the legacy of her grandparents, and earned a degree in Communications in 2010.
After college, Kathryn moved directly into legal studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law, graduating in 2014 and following in the footsteps of her grandfather Jerry in becoming a lawyer. She was admitted to practice in both Nevada and New York and had the opportunity to practice in both states. In Las Vegas she practiced with the firm of Barron & Pruitt. From 2019 to 2020 she fulfilled a longtime dream of living in New York City, though her heart always remained in Las Vegas.
Spirited, confident, and independent, Kathryn was remembered as a natural leader who spoke her mind and pursued her goals with determination. Beyond the law she had a deep love of fitness and enjoyed working as a trainer, encouraging others to reach their own goals. She was an avid traveler and sports fan, and she cherished time with her family. She is survived by her father, Steven Butler; her mother, Trudy Butler Fitzpatrick; her sister, Sara; and her nieces and nephews.
