Keith R. Gillette

Keith Randall Gillette built a distinguished legal career grounded in a life first spent at sea. Born May 3, 1963, in San Pablo, California, and raised in Marysville, he earned his bachelor's degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York, in 1987. He served a decade as an Engineering Officer aboard deep-sea vessels with the Merchant Marine Fleet - including during the Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm conflicts - and was a member of the United States Naval Reserve for twelve years.

After his years at sea, Keith turned to the law, earning his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1997 and a master's degree in Patent Law from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2008. He began his legal practice in maritime law in San Francisco and went on to become a successful trial attorney. His practice spanned intellectual property, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, technology transactions and licensing, and complex litigation.

Keith advanced to Partner at Archer Norris in 2015 and, over the course of his career, practiced with the firms Bullivant Houser Bailey and Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, concluding his career in insurance defense work with Intact Insurance. He died on July 22, 2022, at his home in Auburn, California, after a battle with cancer.
