Kim Louise Hagerty

Kim Louise Hagerty received her law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1981 and built a successful law practice in the Lake Tahoe area, where she was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1982. Her early career in the Sierra Nevada region established the professional foundation on which she would later have a lasting impact.

In 1996 she relocated to Traverse City, Michigan, joining the family business, Hagerty Insurance. There she filled a succession of key leadership roles - serving as legal counsel, then as CEO and later co-CEO, and ultimately as chairman of the board, a position from which she retired in 2014. During her tenure the company grew dramatically, expanding from fewer than ten employees to hundreds.

Beyond her legal and business career, Kim gave generously of her time to her community. She served as a board member of the Northwestern Michigan College Foundation from 2009 to 2019, later becoming an honorary member, and chaired the board of the Montessori Children's House. She was also a founding member of the Karen Circle.
