Kimberly Ann Morgan

Kimberly Ann Morgan was born in Washington, D.C., on October 1, 1956, to Richard and Barbara Morgan, and became a long-time public servant in Nevada. Her ties to state government began early - she first worked as an assistant in the Nevada State Library in 1975 while still in high school, and later served as a secretary and research assistant for the Legislative Counsel Bureau. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in pre-law from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1977, serving concurrently as committee secretary for Government Affairs in the Assembly, before attending the University of Oklahoma, College of Law, from which she graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1980.

Committed to the work of the Legislature, Kim returned after law school to the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau, where she served as an attorney for more than 20 years, including as the Assembly Bill Drafting Adviser and Chief Deputy Legislative Counsel. Her extensive knowledge of state government and the Legislature made her a trusted tutor for new legislators, attorneys, and staff, who came to depend on her kindness, intelligence, wit, and strong work ethic. In 2009, she was honored for her contributions with induction on the Assembly Wall of Distinction, and her impact on Nevada legislation continues to be felt.

After retiring, Kim pursued ordination as a priest in the Episcopal Church, attending seminary at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley and being ordained on February 13, 2010. Until her illness, she served as Associate Priest at St. Peter's in Carson City, bringing the same dedication and compassion to her ministry that had marked her legislative career.
