Laurence Williams McNabney

Laurence Williams "Larry" McNabney was a native Nevadan, born December 19, 1948. He attended local schools and graduated from Reno High School in the Class of 1966, then earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1970. He went on to the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law, graduating in 1974, where he excelled academically and finished near the top of his class. After passing both the California and Nevada bars, he served a clerkship and then worked as a Deputy Public Defender for Washoe County.

In 1977, Larry formed a partnership with Ron J. Bath, and together they represented clients in a number of high-profile criminal cases. He also served as a special Deputy District Attorney from 1985 to 1986. He was a federally appointed defense attorney in "The Company" case, which proved to be the longest federal drug trial in United States history, and over the course of his career he was involved in some of Nevada's most closely followed criminal matters.

After a three-year retirement hiatus, Larry returned to Reno and opened a personal injury practice, later expanding with offices in Las Vegas and Elko, Nevada, as well as Sacramento, California. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim McNabney, his mother, Marie McNabney, and his older brother, James McNabney, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Cristin Becker and Tavia Christine Williams, both of Reno; his son, Joseph James McNabney of Sacramento, California; and his granddaughter, Lauren Marie Williams of Reno.
