Leonard T. Howard Sr.

Leonard T. Howard, Sr. was born on December 5, 1918, in Malden, Missouri, and built his professional life in northern Nevada. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Nevada and went on to receive his law degree from the University of Denver, College of Law, in 1952, the same year he entered the legal profession.

For more than four decades, Leonard practiced law in Reno, continuing in the profession until his retirement in 1998. Among the many facets of his long career, he was most proud of the work he did with the Reno Housing Authority over many decades, service that reflected a lasting commitment to his community.

Beyond his legal practice, Leonard was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge and the Kerak Shrine Temple, and in 1985 he served as potentate of the Kerak Shrine Temple. He died in Reno on September 1, 2012, at the age of 93.
