In Memoriam

Lorin Dale Parraguirre - September 3, 1929 to 1986

Lorin Dale Parraguirre was born in Bridgeport, California, on September 3, 1929, into one of Nevada's oldest families. He graduated from Reno High School, attended the University of Nevada, Reno, and earned degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Denver Law School, from which he received his law degree in 1954. In 1956 he and his two brothers, David and Paul, made headlines when all three were admitted to the Nevada bar at the same time, having taken and passed the bar examination together.

Mr. Parraguirre built a distinguished career in Nevada law and public service. He served as a Deputy District Attorney for Clark County and as a Deputy Attorney General, and while practicing law in Reno he was elected to two terms as an Assemblyman representing Washoe County, where he was regarded as a dedicated and respected legislator. From 1970 he practiced law with his brother Paul in Las Vegas, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues as an accomplished attorney and friend.

He was a member of the Colorado, California, and Nevada State Bar Associations, as well as the Clark County Bar Association, and was active in a number of civic and social organizations, including the Reno Elks Lodge and the Nevada Basque Association. Following his untimely death, the Nevada Legislature memorialized him by concurrent resolution, expressing its condolences and honoring his service to the state. He was survived by his wife, Judith, his daughters Julie Ann and Jean Marie, his son James, and his brothers Paul and David.
