Louis I Wiener Jr.

Louis I. Wiener, Jr. was born on March 28, 1915, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and went on to become one of the most enduring figures in the Southern Nevada legal community. He began practicing law in Las Vegas in 1941 and continued for 55 years, making him the longest-tenured attorney in Southern Nevada by the time of his death in 1996.

Over the course of his career, Wiener represented a remarkable roster of clients, including Frank Sinatra, Kirk Kerkorian, Melvin Belli, Howard Hughes, and Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel of the Flamingo Hotel. Between the 1950s and the 1970s, he represented nearly every major Las Vegas hotel at one time or another. Beyond his law practice, he held ownership interests in casino properties in downtown Las Vegas and on the Strip, managed the slot operations at McCarran International Airport for roughly two decades, and became involved in broadcasting through Broadcast Associates and Sunbelt Broadcasting.

Wiener was deeply engaged in his community and its charitable life. He established the Wiener Scholarship in the UNLV Music Department, funded soccer programs, and served on the boards of Boys' Town and WestCare while supporting the Andre Agassi Foundation. His contributions were widely recognized, including the Clark County Bar Association's Professionalism Award and his selection as Las Vegas's first Philanthropist of the Year in 1992. He died on February 6, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
