In Memoriam

Louis M. Daraban - 1933 to January 12, 2011

Louis M. Daraban was born in 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to the Los Angeles area at the age of 15. He graduated from Loyola Law School and went on to become one of the youngest appointed judges in the state's history, serving proudly on the bench for more than 25 years, including as a judge of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.

Admitted to the State Bar of Nevada on October 3, 1994, he continued practicing law for the remainder of his life. Colleagues remembered him as a gracious and pleasant presence in the courtroom and in the profession - a man it was always a pleasure to appear before and to know.

Beyond the law, Louis was a devoted student of history, with a particular passion for World War II and the Civil War. He was remembered by those who knew him as a kind and good man who consistently put others before himself. He died on January 12, 2011, survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia, their sons Gregory and Stephen, and his grandchildren.
