Mark C. Scott Jr.

Mark Christian Scott Jr. was born in Elko, Nevada, into a longtime Nevada ranching family, the son of Mildred Irene Griswold and Mark C. Scott Sr. He attended Stanford University and went on to earn his law degree from the University of Utah School of Law.

After law school, he returned with his family to Elko, where he practiced law and later served as the district attorney for Elko County. He was admitted to the Nevada State Bar early in his career and remained a member of it throughout his life.

In 1972, he was invited to Las Vegas by Harry Reid and became a partner in the law firm of Beckley, Delanoy and Singleton, where he served as managing partner until his retirement. At the time of his death on January 23, 2017, at the age of 85, he was still a member of the Nevada State Bar.
