Matthew Jensen

Matthew Lee Jensen was born in Corvallis, Oregon, and after graduating from Corvallis High School in 1986 he began college at Oregon State University as an engineering major before transferring to California State University, Fullerton, to complete his undergraduate degree. He went on to earn his law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. His connection to Nevada began during law school, when he clerked for Judge Mills Lane in Reno between his second and third years - an experience that drew him to the region and shaped the course of his career.

After graduation, Matt moved to Reno permanently and began his legal career with the District Attorney's office in Carson City. Over the following years he served in a range of public roles, working with the City of Reno and the Nevada Attorney General's office, with a brief period in private practice. Finding that public service suited him best, he returned to the public sector, again serving in the Nevada Attorney General's office and in the City Attorney's office in Reno.

Colleagues remembered his competence, diligence, and commitment across the District Attorney's, Attorney General's, and Reno City Attorney's offices. Known as a man of integrity, sharp analytical mind, and genuine respect for others, Matt approached the law - as he approached life - as both a teacher and a learner. He passed away on April 4, 2018, in Reno, Nevada.
