In Memoriam

Merrilee Hillam Clark - July 18, 1952 to February 10, 2024

Merrilee Hillam Clark was born July 18, 1952, in Durango, Colorado, to Duane Folsom Hillam and Jean Irene Hillam. After spending her formative years in Utah, she married Howard Douglas Clark, and the couple made their home in Henderson, Nevada, where she raised two daughters and three sons. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she found particular joy serving in Nursery and Primary callings with children.

Ms. Clark placed great value on education and built a professional life spanning two demanding fields. She worked her way through both a bachelor's and a master's degree in accounting at Brigham Young University, going on to pass the CPA exam and to spend several years working in accounting - fond of saying she could handle any kind of math as long as a dollar sign was in front of it. Later she returned to BYU for law school, sat for the bar exam, and went on to practice tax law.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Clark was remembered for her sharp wit, her warmth, and a keen appreciation of the arts, treasuring the work of Cassatt, Rembrandt, and Klimt. She passed away on February 10, 2024, in Orem, Utah, at the age of 71, and is survived by her children Elizabeth Reynolds, Christian Clark, Catherine Clark, Jonathan Clark, and Nicholas Clark, along with four sisters, one brother, and eight grandchildren.
