Melvyn Tanner Harmon

Melvyn Tanner Harmon was born October 10, 1938, in St. George, Utah. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Utah and went on to complete his law degree, launching a legal career that would span nearly three decades in Nevada.

Harmon joined the District Attorney's office in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he built his reputation as a prosecutor in the Major Violators Unit. Over the course of his career he handled 275 felony and murder trials, and he was known for his compassion for victims and his perseverance in the pursuit of justice. He retired in 1996 after nearly 29 years of service.

By the close of his career, Harmon was widely regarded among his colleagues as one of the finest prosecutors in the history of Clark County and the state of Nevada. He passed away on February 7, 2020, at the age of 81.
