Michael F. Mackedon

Michael Fenn Mackedon was a Fallon, Nevada attorney whose legal career spanned fifty-seven years. Born August 4, 1941, in Fallon to Leonard and Julia Mackedon, he was a lifelong leader from an early age, serving as student body president both at Churchill County High School, from which he graduated in 1959, and at the University of Nevada, from which he graduated in 1963. He earned his law degree at Georgetown Law School in 1967 and returned to his hometown to practice.

Mackedon maintained a general practice of law in Fallon that, over the years, encompassed criminal law, real property law, commercial transactions, trusts, estates, natural resources, water law, and public lands law. Beginning in 1993, he served as Fallon's City Attorney - a role he continued to hold until the day he died. He often said he had chosen the profession of law to 'help the widow and the orphan,' a philosophy that guided his decades of work.

Remembered for his scholarship and his command of language, Mackedon left what those who knew him described as a legacy of gentlemanly actions, scholarly legal work, and kind and genuine concern for others. He practiced alongside his son, Leonard Ernest Mackedon, who served as his law partner and preceded him in death. Michael Fenn Mackedon died on February 23, 2025, at the age of 83.
