Michael Hercules Wilfong - 1979-10-12 to 2023-11-14

Michael Hercules Wilfong - known to many as "Fong" - was born on October 12, 1979, in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. He attended Agua Fria High School, where he wrestled, and went on to the University of Arizona, where he studied Political Science. Inspired by the civil rights figures he studied, including Thurgood Marshall and Malcolm X, he was drawn to the law as a means of pursuing racial justice.

Wilfong built his legal career in Las Vegas, Nevada, serving as a public defender for Clark County. He viewed the role as the frontline of racial justice and brought to it a rare gift for connecting with people. He was known for his ability to relate to the humanity in everyone, from the most downtrodden clients he represented to his colleagues in the law, judges, and court staff.

Beyond the courtroom, Wilfong was remembered as brilliant, brave, and hilarious - a steadfast friend and a loving father who approached everyone with an open heart. He held a black belt in judo, was known for his signature bolo tie and Kangol hat, and enjoyed freestyle rap. He died on November 14, 2023, and is survived by his wife, Shania, his children, and his parents, Troy and Debby Wilfong.
