Michael J. Wendell

Michael James Wendell was born February 11, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, flying missions over Europe. After the war he completed his studies at the University of Notre Dame and went on to earn his law degree at Georgetown University.

Admitted to the Nevada bar in 1956, Mr. Wendell built his career in the practice of law in Las Vegas. From 1971 to 1991 he served on the bench as a judge of the Eighth Judicial District Court in the State of Nevada, giving two decades of service to the courts of Clark County.

Many prominent local attorneys began their careers as his law clerks, studying the law under his guidance and gaining, along with legal knowledge, the mutual respect and friendship for which he was remembered. He passed away December 30, 2012.
