Michael R. Specchio

Michael Ronald Specchio was born on August 27, 1942, in Huntington, New York, to Tanzy and Fred Specchio. He attended McGeorge Law School and went on to begin his legal career in the Washoe County Public Defender's office in Reno, Nevada, in 1971. Colleagues from those early years remembered him for the level-headedness, wisdom, and sense of humor that would come to define an honored career in the law.

Over the decades that followed, Mr. Specchio built a wide-ranging career in Nevada's courts. After his time in the Public Defender's office he entered private practice, and he served as a Juvenile Master for fifteen years. Following his retirement he continued to serve periodically as a judge pro-tem on the Sparks Justice Court. Across these roles he was regarded as a superb trial lawyer, a fair and wise judge, and a capable administrator.

Mr. Specchio was widely remembered as a mentor to many attorneys who came up under his guidance, and as a gentleman known throughout the Reno legal community for his generosity, warmth, and humor. He passed away on December 31, 2016, in Reno, Nevada.
