Milton Manoukian

Milton "Milt" Manoukian was a prominent northern Nevada attorney whose legal career spanned more than four decades. Born October 23, 1932, in Livingston, California, he was the second of five children of Hagop H. "Jack" and Rose Boranian Manoukian, a family that moved to Reno in 1950. A standout athlete in his youth, he attended San Jose State from 1951 to 1953 before being drafted into the U.S. Army, then enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno, graduating in 1957.

Milt earned his Juris Doctor from the George Washington University School of Law in Washington, D.C., in 1960, working for the U.S. Capitol police force under the patronage of Senator Alan Bible while in law school. He returned to Nevada in 1960, settling in Carson City, where he worked for the Nevada Highway Department while studying for the state bar examination. A member of the Nevada Bar, he went on to practice law in northern Nevada for over forty years.

Over the course of his career, Milt represented clients in communities across the region, including Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley, Carson City, and Reno. Known for his keen, intelligent sense of humor and genuine interest in people from all walks of life, he approached his practice with the conviction, as he put it, that "anything worth doing is worth doing well." He came from a distinguished Nevada legal family; his brother, Noel Manoukian, served as a Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court.
