Nancy A Cyra

Nancy Cyra Maddox was a long time resident of Reno and a member of the Nevada State Bar. After being awarded a scholarship, she attended the University of San Francisco, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975. She went on to attend Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, where she again excelled.

Following law school, Nancy was admitted to the California State Bar in 1979 and began her career with a San Francisco law firm specializing in labor law. She was admitted to the Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California in 1979 and to the Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in 1983. She later moved to Tahoe City, California, and joined the law firm of Robert C. Maddox. After moving to Reno in 1991, Nancy was admitted to the Nevada State Bar.

As an attorney, Nancy was resolute in her determination to obtain justice for her clients. She worked tirelessly and skillfully, developing a reputation for her exceptional brief writing skills. Beyond her professional career, she devoted herself to the education of her step-son, researching methods for teaching dyslexic children to read and helping him graduate with honors in 1999. Nancy passed away on January 8, 2015, after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer.
