P. Michael Marfisi - 1935-12-18 to 2023-06-12
P. Michael Marfisi was a lifelong Nevadan whose legal career was rooted in the community of Elko. Born on December 18, 1935, in Reno to Edward and Ann Marfisi, he grew up across the state and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno. Sponsored by Senator Alan Bible, he went on to attend law school in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a U.S. Capitol Police officer while completing his studies. He earned his law degree from George Washington University Law School.
After graduating, Mr. Marfisi settled in Elko in 1960 and devoted his professional life to the practice of law there. Over the decades he became a fixture of the local legal community, and he was admitted to the Nevada bar on October 28, 1960.
Beyond his law practice, Mr. Marfisi worked to strengthen his community, serving as president of numerous organizations, helping to found Great Basin College, and lobbying for funding for the South Fork Reservoir. He was remembered for his kindness, generosity, and humility. P. Michael Marfisi passed away on June 12, 2023.
